The Ministry of Heavy Industries has issued the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024, effective from August 28, 2025. This regulation mandates stringent safety standards for machinery and electrical equipment manufactured or imported into India, aligning with global norms. While aiming to enhance safety, it poses compliance challenges for over 150,000 manufacturers, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), due to potential financial and infrastructural constraints.
